I can’t see any further reason not to release Broken Home. The beta went well, and it goes to show how important that whole process is. Some of the themes I was trying to get across didn’t go over so well, so I made some adjustments. Not so much to the core story, but the description that will go on Amazon is different, as well as the cover. There’s no point in hiding it, this is a story that takes place in the Damned and Cursed universe, and fans of that series may be able to put together a larger story going on.
However, even for non-fans of the series, it can interpreted as a completely independent work. Hopefully it’s enjoyed by all.
I just have to do the technical stuff now. Make a .mobi file, submit it to Amazon, all that fun stuff. I’m a little hesitant, as it’s a holiday week. I’m sure there’s some kind of business reason why I should wait another week. But I’m not much of a businessman, so I’ll put it together tonight and try to submit it tonight as well. š
In other news, the audiobook version of Jack Kursed is out now as well, available on Audible and Amazon. I’ve got a bunch of free vouchers for Jack Kursed, which I’ll probably give away through this site in some fashion. Still working out the details on that one.

The connections slowly came together for me and of course, I’d recognize “Byron” anywhere. š Byron’s parting words to Janet threw me for a minute and then I realized who Mark and Sara were or rather who they would be. Can’t wait for more of your work; bring on Demons LLC!!!!

Ah, you got it, then. š I had to look back through my own notes to make sure I didn’t mess up names and everything. But yeah, if anyone ever decides to re-read the old books, the pieces are all there.
I figured most people would get Byron, even possibly after a few sentences. He’s hard to miss. The others may get missed. But either way, I think it’s still a fun little tale.
I think it’s neat that two of the Damned and Cursed characters are connected, even if by a tiny thread.

Is this going to be important for the damned and cursed series?

I’m honestly not sure yet. I don’t really introduce any new “core” characters, although I don’t think I’d mind revisiting Janet once again. I don’t see me referencing the incidents in this work in the greater series. It was more a glimpse into the past at how certain events came to be.
And it’s always fun to write about a cranky guy that can’t sleep. š

It took me a moment to realize who Elizabeth, Sarah and Mark were. Though the last name “Fields” seemed so familiar. Nice way to introduce them from a past occurrence though.

Man, I was so confused at that ending comment “Bryon” made about Sarah! I was searching everywhere for the answer until I finally searched through Demon Spawn! I was hoping for that kind of twist the moment a church was mentioned. Anyways, I really enjoyed this short story. I found the pace to be well set with tension around every page. I have been a big fan of yours since I read Demon Spawn and will definitely support you in your following works. Best wishes.

Thank you so much. š I’ll definitely keep writing as long as there’s an audience.
Actually, to be honest, I’m sure I’d write and release even if there was no audience.
