Not soul insurance for real (that would be cool), but the novel is. It’s been out for a day or so. I never make an announcement right away, as I want to make sure the live file looks okay before people buy like crazy (I hope). There’s always something that seems to go wrong, and I have to thank Gene for catching errors even after the file went live.

I’m still working on the Nook version through Smashwords, but the Kindle / Amazon crowd can get it here for $2.99. In a few weeks to follow will also be the paperback version.

Soul Insurance is about a world that is very much like the one we live in now. There are cars, computers, the Internet, pancakes. The one big difference is reincarnation isn’t just something people wonder about, it is an actual part of everyday life. People exist alongside the souls of the departed, and they can’t talk to each other, with the exception of our main character, Connor. Connor crosses paths with a woman named Brooke, and the connection between is strange, to say the least. 🙂 Check out Soul Insurance for a fun little ride through an interesting world. The content entry of Demon’s Doorway is done. Now, it needs to cook for a few weeks while my mind clears for editing. Then the editing funness begins before releasing to beta.

Demon’s Doorway is really the first official acknowledgement that, by happy accident, we have a series on our hands here that I will be visiting from time to time. Demonspawn was meant to be a one-off novel. But in the planning stages for A Witch To Live, I saw a perfect chance to link it to Demonspawn. However, I still didn’t think of it as a series. Then A Witch To Live gave birth to Jack Kursed, but I still thought the same thing. Each novel was written in such a way that, because it followed a different main character, it didn’t completely kill the flow if they were read out of order. Victoria was the main element tying them all together.

Well, that’s changed now. We’re now dealing with a series, entitled Damned and Cursed, and it will certainly be helpful if readers were familiar with some of the characters going into Demon’s Doorway. 🙂 It was a lot of fun bringing everyone together. I think the main players (Alex, Kevin, Jack, Victoria) are some pretty awesome characters, and the scenes they share together are pretty cool. Anyone who’s read my stuff knows what to expect. Some action, romance, neat supernatural stuff, some fangs, a potion or two. 🙂  I hope it makes for a fun read.

Okay, what feels like a lot of news coming. I’ll put them all in bullet form 🙂

• As you can see from the picture on the left, the cover for Demon’s Doorway and the series title is all said and done. My wife actually came up with the series title. However, I’m still going to give a set of books away. I’ll probably end up doing a random draw from everyone who helped and send out a set. The series title is pretty small at a 200×300 image size, so just for clarification, the series title is simply: Damned and Cursed.
• Also, as of about 10 minutes ago, Demon’s Doorway is done. This is a first for me in that I have 2 novels ready to go. Now, I’ll go back and fix a few things my beta readers suggested for Soul Insurance, and release that novel. With a little luck, maybe by the end of this coming week?
• I’ll let Demon’s Doorway sit for a few weeks, go through my own editing, and then do the standard “release to beta”. Another post is incoming with some more thoughts on Demon’s Doorway.
• Dead Living is Permuted Press’s top selling “new” novel in February, and #2 overall. I’ll take it. 🙂 Thanks to everyone who picked up a copy. I hope you liked it.

That wasn’t too bad, only 4 points. But still some big news in there.

Off and on for a few months, I’ve been trying to come up with a series title for the novels that are set in the same universe (Demonspawn, A Witch To Live, Jack Kursed, Demon’s Doorway). And…I’ve got nothing. 🙂 It hasn’t really been an issue for the most part, but Demon’s Doorway is nearly complete, and I need to have a series title associated with it. It’s preventing me from getting the cover done, and it would definitely be nice to have that in place when more ideas come up.

I like how the series has turned out, but I can’t just use the title of the first book (A Demonspawn Novel), as it gives the wrong impression. Can’t have someone reading a Jack book, but expecting Alex.

So, it was suggested in one of our comment threads to hold a contest. Doesn’t sound like a bad idea at all. I’m looking for series title ideas. Send them along however you’d like, through the comments, or through the contact form. The winner will get a printed copy of all the works I’ve got out so far (Demonspawn, A Witch To Live, Jack Kursed, Mind Slide, Dead Living), plus the two upcoming works (Soul Insurance, Demon’s Doorway).

I imagine most of the readers that check out my site already have it, but the eBook version of Dead Living will be on sale until Feb. 3rd. So, if you haven’t gotten a copy yet, or you have a friend that would enjoy a good zombie story, tell them to grab a copy of Dead Living. 🙂

Amazon  Barnes and Noble

Just to give a quick update on where things are right now.

Dead Living is available for sale. Permuted Press hasn’t made any type of official announcement yet (maybe they’re waiting for the Audible version?) but I know you can go to Amazon or Barnes and Noble and get either the paperback or eBook version right now. For those who don’t know, Dead Living was available for sale over a year ago, but is now a Permuted Press novel, and they’ll be handling the marketing, pricing, etc. I’m hoping they can push it to the moon. I’m also hoping those who haven’t read it before enjoy it. 🙂 Dead Living is my take on a zombie apocalypse, and has some interesting characters and scenarios along the way.

Soul Insurance is in beta, and so far has received positive feedback. There is an addition or two I’d like to add, and maybe more when all the feedback is back in. But this novel isn’t that far off from release, I’d imagine. It’s not related to my “series”, and I’m curious as to how it’s accepted. 🙂 Dead Living is standalone, and has done well. So is Mind Slide, but it has not. 🙂

Finally, we come to Demon’s Doorway. I think I’ll stick with that title, it’s grown on me. This is a series novel, and anyone who has read Demonspawn, A Witch To Live, or Jack Kursed will find a character they’re familiar with. Amazingly, I’m almost done the novel (on the finale now, 81K words in). It feels like this one will be around 90K words or so. I’ve never been so far into a new novel while one is in beta. I want to get the cover started, but I can’t yet until I decide on a series title. I want to have “Demon’s Doorway — A Cool Series Novel”, so people will know what they’re getting. But once that’s in place, off we go.

So, we’ve got three novels for sure this year, hopefully more. Zombies, to a world full of souls, to another world with supernatural creatures. That’s not a bad spread. 🙂

Dead Living is back on the shelves. Permuted Press has taken it under its wing and given it a fresh coat of paint. New cover, new editing, new marketing, same zombie goodness. It is now available in paperback and Kindle format, with an Audible version coming soon (here we are at Barnes and Noble). Less than a month now.

My fellow supernatural author Jerry Hanel will be giving away a free Kindle Fire HD, and here’s the post explaining all the details. The cool part is he’s preloading the works of a bunch of authors on the Kindle (including myself). So, you could win a Kindle Fire HD and some free books. 🙂 What’s not to love about that?

I came across my own “Dead Living Will Be Out In December” post, and realized I never posted an official update on this. This changed, obviously, by a month. We’re now looking at the end of January, the last week. It’ll be out in paperback, eBook, and Audible. So, one more month. 🙂

Everyone that knows my writing by now knows I like to write about the unusual, typically supernatural type stuff. All my heroes have powers in some way, whether they’re creatures or just as simple as a psychic. Dead Living follows this tradition, but with a slight difference. Dead Living takes place after the undead have taken over the world. It follows a young man named Aaron, and his generation has known only the undead. He doesn’t possess any special powers, but discovers he can walk with the undead unharmed, and this creates a very unique perspective for him. It’s a pretty fun novel, I think, and probably my most successful, even with the year absence (if you go to Amazon, you can see 60 mostly positive reviews).

So, check it out at the end of January. I think you’ll like it. 🙂
