Broken Home Available
I guess I should have made this announcement last week, but Broken Home is available. It’s $1.99, and currently available on Amazon, with Nook soon to follow. Here’s the link to the Broken Home page here for Amazon.

I can’t see any further reason not to release Broken Home. The beta went well, and it goes to show how important that whole process is. Some of the themes I was trying to get across didn’t go over so well, so I made some adjustments. Not so much to the core story, but the description that will go on Amazon is different, as well as the cover. There’s no point in hiding it, this is a story that takes place in the Damned and Cursed universe, and fans of that series may be able to put together a larger story going on.
However, even for non-fans of the series, it can interpreted as a completely independent work. Hopefully it’s enjoyed by all.
I just have to do the technical stuff now. Make a .mobi file, submit it to Amazon, all that fun stuff. I’m a little hesitant, as it’s a holiday week. I’m sure there’s some kind of business reason why I should wait another week. But I’m not much of a businessman, so I’ll put it together tonight and try to submit it tonight as well. 🙂
In other news, the audiobook version of Jack Kursed is out now as well, available on Audible and Amazon. I’ve got a bunch of free vouchers for Jack Kursed, which I’ll probably give away through this site in some fashion. Still working out the details on that one.
Hey guys. Need a little assistance. Broken Home is more challenging than I thought. 🙂 Check out this altered description, that will eventually go with the piece, and let me know what you think. Just general impression, and what you might think it’s about. 🙂
Here goes:
Even a demon has a beginning.
The year is 1973. Janet Fields is living the stereotypical American Dream. She has a loving husband, two wonderful daughters, and a beautiful home away from the hustle of city life. Life couldn’t be any better.
That changed the day the stranger invaded her home, and tore apart not only everything Janet knew about her life, but also the world around her.
I’ll slap the cover of Broken Home up here, even though I’ll talk about both.
Beta for Broken Home is almost done. Not much to change grammatically or story-wise, but I am going to tweak the description and the headings inside the work a bit. There are a couple of key things in this work that I didn’t get across in the writing. You’ll probably notice on the upcoming cover change. Just a hint, some familiar characters are there, and the novel takes place in 1973. This comes across more hidden than I meant, and I’ll have to correct it.
Demons LLC is rolling along (even though I just noticed the cover is missing “Damned and Cursed”, my fault there). I’m going to throw a sample out there in the next day or two. I like putting up samples of the series works, as I kind of need the early feedback. These novels are fun to write, I love the universe they exist in. But there are challenges, like staying true to characters that already exist, bringing readers up to speed, reintroduction of certain elements (like powers), all that fun stuff. So, I want to make sure I’m on the right track with an early sample.
I’m looking for 5-6 readers to give Broken Home a read-through. Just looking for the standard stuff. Does it make sense? Was it enjoyable? Is there anything that needs to be cleared up/made better/even omitted? Would you be willing to pay 99 cents for it? $1.99? Â (new at short story pricing)
You can get in touch with me via email, the comments section, etc. The cool thing is it is a short read. I’m hoping it’s equivalent to a bowl of popcorn. 🙂
The next few days will be Broken Home editing days. I’ve let that sit long enough now that it will be kind of “new” in my head, making editing a better experience. It’s only 23K words, so it shouldn’t take long at all. Then I’ll let whoever wants to read it give their opinion, like always. Since I consider this a short story, I believe I’ll only charge 99 cents for it. Hopefully, 400 million people will buy it at that price. 🙂
I haven’t been idle in the meantime though. Demons LLC has a solid start now, and I think the story is coming together really well. I like the supporting characters in this novel. At the moment, they’re only meant to enhance this novel, but any of them could have stories/adventures of their own. That’s why I really enjoy the Damned and Cursed universe. There’s still so much to go through in this world.
Just a quick little update. Broken Home isn’t far from release now. I’m going to edit it in a week, but it’s only a 23K word short story, so that won’t take long at all. The beta reading should fly by, too, and then it will be out.
Hey everybody. First of all, I wanted to thank everyone for checking out my books. I tend to go a bit into “media blackout” when I release a book. I don’t follow reviews too much, at least for a while. It turns out Witch’s Kurse has been really well received. I’m sure one of the reasons is word of mouth, and I wanted everyone to know I really appreciate the spreading of the word.
I thought I’d drop a few hints as to my next two projects. I’m working on a short story at the moment. I can’t imagine it’ll be the length of my other works, but it should be an interesting little tale. The hard part now is getting back into it 🙂 I cranked out Witch’s Kurse at a crazy pace, something like 2K words a day. That burnt me out a little, but I think I’m about recovered. The short story is centered around a home invasion, but I won’t go any more into it.
The next idea I have, but am still developing, is a tale with Alex Teague, from the Damned and Cursed series. I’ve got a central idea, and a lot of cool scenes, but I’m looking to tie it all together.
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything, but just wanted to let everyone know I was still around. 🙂
Looking through some logs, it looks like GMail might have moved many of the contact requests forms into my junk email. It looks like I haven’t responded to a lot of them, which I’ll correct shortly. 🙂 I don’t anyone thinking I’m ignoring them.
I hope you guys like it. 🙂 Let me know either way. Feedback is always good. Here is the link to the Amazon page. It’s up on Smashwords, but will probably be a bit before it’s available directly from Apple and Barnes and Noble.
Witch’s Kurse continues the adventures of the characters we’ve all met before in the Damned and Cursed series. This one focuses mainly on Jack, but there are a few surprises in store, as well as a new addition. This is my longest work to date, and the cost for the eBook version is $3.99.
The challenge in this work to write was the multiple stories. There are several, but in the end they all come together. Hopefully I did a good job weaving together an entertaining tale. There’s also Jack himself, always a pain. Riding that balance with him is always fun, always difficult. 🙂 He is not a nice man, even bordering on being a villain at times. There are points in the novel, especially with his dialog, that it seems he really is a villain. But he loves his daughter, and he’s not exactly sleepless anymore. 🙂 That helps keep him from the brink.
Anyway, enjoy. I’d love to talk about the novel some more, but don’t want to spoil things.
Oh one last thing. I checked every feasible thing I could format-wise (had some issues this time. Amazon, for some reason, wanted to delete trailing apostrophes this go-round), but if you spot anything major that bugs you, just holler at me.
