And What Would Be Next?
I posted this little “teaser” a week ago on Instagram, which then rolls into FaceBook and Twitter. But, I never posted on the website here. So, in short, as you can gather, the new novel is underway. I love the cover, they seem to keep getting better and better in my mind. I won’t give away too many plot elements “yet”. But below is what I put together for the back cover text. This, as always, is subject to change, but it gives an idea of what the novel, Own Ghost Story, has packed inside. 🙂
One. One too many to drink. One mistake. One accident.
One life lost.
Two years have passed since Drew killed Lilah while driving under the influence. He’s been struggling to put his life back together since that night. Desperately trying to make ends meet, survive day to day.
He sees Lilah. He saw her during his recovery at the hospital. He sees her in his dreams. It will pass, the doctors say. Just hallucinations brought on by stress and trauma.
But now he sees Lilah when he’s awake. She speaks to him.
Has Drew finally lost his mind? Is the guilt too much?
Or are Drew and Lilah in the middle of their own ghost story?

I’m 40K plus words into it now, I imagine a little over halfway. It’s going smoothly, just a few things I have to map out for the end. I honestly don’t have a date right now, but I’ll keep everyone posted. 🙂

I’m looking forward to it already. Is Jack based on one of Jack Nicholson’s characters BTW? I always imagine his face when I read him.
From the text you have released, I imagine that this might feature Demons LLC…

This is the one thing I can say to longtime readers that I wouldn’t think would spoil anything juicy.
You can’t have a book, from the Damned and Cursed series, with the word “Ghost” in the title, without a certain someone making an appearance. 🙂

Anticipation, can hardly wait for this.

Thanks?? I mean, I don’t know if I should thank you for teasing me like that. Now I’m sitting around wondering “well, if he’s 40,000 words into it and is halfway done, when will he finish? When did he start?! How long will the editing and publishing take?! Why does he keep doing this to me?!!! Just take my money and give me your book!!”
Ahem. Sorry. I’m eagerly anticipating your next installment in the Damned and Cursed series.

Ha, sorry. 🙂 One of the drawbacks in trying to create “buzz” in marketing. I actually toyed with the idea of going completely silent on this one, and literally not say anything until the book was available. But I have to imagine that wouldn’t go over well.

You sound like a good guy, Mr. Bullion. I hope you’re making lots of money from your books and I wish you a long, prosperous career in writing.

You already know what I’m going to ask… Is there a shapeless tie in with this one j/k.
When I first spotted this on Instagram, I was curious about if this was stand alone. The cover is so radically different from the rest of the series.
Question – have you considered publishing serial short stories on Kindle Vella? I’m really enjoying the content John Conroe is pushing there and I could see that working for some of your side characters. If you do it, I’m a buyer.

Ha, no Shapeless tie in. I really wish I could go back and change that ending. Make that novel a “series” novel. That would have been so awesome.
The previous two covers are similar since magic and witchcraft were primary elements in the novel. I actually asked the cover artist to make sure there weren’t many similarities on Own Ghost Story. A series novel, yes, but new characters and a new story.
I’ve never heard of Vella at all. 🙂 Now it’s time to do some research.

Absolutely cannot wait for another entry in this amazing series. I am sure this is more Alex’s cup of tea, but please let Jack get some snark in, even if it is by phone! Jack needs his own movie, badly.
Keep up the great work and let us know when it’s beta time!
P.S. Just let us know and we can all look the other way if you need to tweak Shapless’s ending for a series or a tie in.

One of my writing missteps, for sure. 🙂 Not working Shapeless into the series.
It doesn’t keep me up at night. But the last few novels I had thoughts of “It would be cool if Brady was shapeshifting his way through this book”.
